El Torreon has now re-opened for special events in its lower ballroom located on the corner of 31st and Gillham. You can schedule a visit and tour the revitalized venue to use as a backdrop for your special event.

El Torreon’s main ballroom has a capacity of 250 seated guests (general) up to 286 guests (cocktail-style). Our front event area holds up to 120 guests for smaller events and is a perfect space for cocktail hour.
We are located just east of the well known KCTV tower in Midtown Kansas City at the corner of 31st St and Gillham Plaza. Just minutes from downtown, our venue has the added benefit of free public parking located right in front of our building, while remaining close to Crown Center, The Plaza District, and city favorites like Union Station.
Rental of the event venue also includes use of the both event spaces, free public parking, a prep kitchen, bridal party rooms, tables, chairs, free wifi, as well as one on-site staff member. Security, Audio and Video options, Beverage Services, Additional Lighting, and Wedding Coordination available on request.
El Torreon provides 300 black or navy chairs, 10 x 8’ rectangle tables, 25 x 6’ round tables all available at no cost to you. Clients are also welcome to rent or provide their own tables and chairs. Linens available upon request as a premium option.
Beginning in September, 2019, the El Torreon will be offering beverage packages for our clients. Packages start at $15 per person for the Hosted Beer and Wine package, with premium options also available. We provide trained, licensed bartenders determined by the number of bartenders required for adequate service (based on the size of your event). We offer two options in regard to bartender gratuity: if you allow tip jars to be out the evening of your event, you do not owe a fee. If you choose not to allow tip jars, we then charge a 5% gratuity fee based on your bar package total. Beverage packages are priced per person for guests over 21 years of age. All bar packages include up to 5 hours of service. Alcohol from outside sources may not be brought in to the venue.
El Torreon does not offer in-house catering, but we are happy to provide a list of preferred caterers to help you meet the needs of your event. Bringing in an outside caterer will require a small additional cleaning fee of $250, but we also offer the opportunity for any leftover food to be donated to a local women’s shelter as a part our ongoing support for our local community.
